Eating Veggies First

Everything you read about being healthier says the same thing over and over.

EAT. MORE. VEGETABLES.

Truth is, I don't like most vegetables. I didn't grow up eating them that much so I never really "acquired" a taste for them. But they are so filling! And so good for you!



One of my July resolutions for my Happiness Project is to eat my veggies first at lunch. That's doable right? I've started blending spinach into my smoothies when I have those in the morning, but for now, lunch is my main focus. I've been eating my veggies first at lunch for about a week so far even though it's one of July's resolutions. It's easy and hard. I want to eat all the other yummy things I pack for lunch, but at the same time, I usually get SUPER full of veggies.

I read a book where a man has 2 servings of veggies with every meal before eating anything else. You can bet he's pretty darn healthy.

What do you think? Could you eat your veggies first at lunch? Do you LOVE veggies?

  2. I'm not a huge fan of veggies either. But I completely opt out and drink green smoothies. That way I'm still getting the nutrients, but without the yuck (to me anyway :D).

  3. I actually am a pretty big veggie fan, and like you mentioned, I think it makes a difference what you eat growing up because we ate a lot of vegetables at home!

  4. I did not used to eat veggies at all...I didn't like them. It's taken an effort on my part to really fall in love with them. I love love LOVE roasting my veggies. Raw doesn't work for me and I've learned that I can only MAKE myself eat something I don't truly enjoy for so long.

  8. I found this great drink, tastes like berry and you get 8+ servings (also alkalizes the ph of your body) of veggies in every little crystal light package! I don't often get as many veggies in my diet as i'd like so that's how I get 'em all in.

  10. i probably need to learn to be better at this.. it's just that i don't know very many ways to prepare veggies.. and i get so sick of eating salad.

  11. For me it really depends on the type of veggies some i do not mind eating first some I can only eat them with meet together. Good luck with this hunx

  13. For about a year now, I've been having organic produce delivered. It's not that much more expensive at the store in my area, and it helps me to have no excuse to cook and eat them! Eating them first, however...hmmm...:)

  16. As soon as I started cooking more and putting more time into seasoning/different cooking methods for veggies, they're so much easier to eat! Just needed a little variety I guess

  17. I love veggies! I prefer to try to eat them first as well. It's hard though when so many other things taste so much better that aren't as healthy! Gotta eat those veggies!!

  18. I love veggie. I don't want to call myself vegetarian, because for me this is lifestyle, includes all areas of our life. But I don't eat meat at all. Since 16 years. So it's easy for me eat vegetables.

  20. I've been making a more conscious effort to eat fruits and veggies and I have been noticing less cravings for junk! :) YOU CAN DO IT!
