I was given this gorgeous cardigan by Shop Nayeli, so naturally I asked my husband to take pictures as I awkwardly tried to look cute for the camera. I was feeling comfy cute, so I chose to cuddle up in a chair for the pics. Afterwards, I didn't feel amazing about these pictures and I even said, "Well, that's as good as it's gonna get." I went ahead and posted the following picture on Instagram.

My phone started blowing up with notifications. People saying how much they loved my hair, how my skin looked like it was glowing, and that I looked so pretty in this picture. I read the comments over and over. Why was everyone else seeing a different picture than I was?

We are our own worst critics. We judge ourselves too harshly, too quickly, and too indefinitely. We box ourselves in, we tell ourselves we aren't pretty enough, or skinny enough, or smart enough or whatever else enough. And when we tell ourselves that enough, we begin to believe it.
You and me, we're doing better than we think. We are conquering tasks, and crossing items off our to do lists. We are lifting the broken-hearted, and being listening ears to the desperate. We are waking up each day, and facing the challenges, trials, and hardships that come with being human, and we are doing it with a smile.
This year as I'm working on myself, I'm going to try and be a little kinder to myself. You're doing better than you think you are.

I love this I so needed to hear this thank you!
Awwww so glad you felt uplifted!!
Brooklyn, you are such an inspiration and a motivation. We are our worst critics. We should stop being so mean to ourselves. Some of the things we say to ourselves are things we would never even THINK of saying to another person because it's just too mean. So why do we say it to ourselves? Thanks for the reminder that I'm better than I think I am today!
